Our goal at Cypress Asset Management is to facilitate new
possibilities for individuals by freeing them from daily financial
tasks, concerns and worries, so they can focus on their long
term aspirations. We are interested in enabling our clients
to have the freedom to be absolutely at ease with their financial
circumstances, free from the fear of financial insecurity,
and with the power to be effective in their financial actions
and practices. We are not interested in mere insights or gains,
but in lasting outcomes that expand and unfold over time in
their financial lives. This will then influence their quality
of life, relationships, personal productivity and ultimately
the difference they make in life.
Historically we stored wealth in physical objects and used
barter for trading. With the advent of commercial economy,
metal coins and then paper money were "invented."
Money is used as a tool for trade and a store of value. In
our contemporary society more than 98% of the money in circulation
is not even paper currency, but "electronic book entries"
in agreed-upon data bases at financial institutions. So it
has even a more intangible quality.
Along with its use and importance, money has been imbued with
significance and meaning as well as emotional importance beyond
its simple utility. Much of the meaning and emotional learning
occurs early in our lives and shapes our adult experiences.
Whether we are aware of it or not, our sense of self is more
strongly influenced by early life conditioning, within our
cultural paradigms, than most of us ever imagine.
At Cypress Asset Management we would like to have an "examined"
relationship with finances and money. Money can be a powerful
tool and resource for us rather than a master of our lives.
We believe one cannot do this without discovering and facing
the truth about our financial state of affairs as well as
our underlying views and assumptions regarding money and wealth.
Once addressed properly, we then can focus on establishing
practices that work, are sustainable, and contribute to our
financial well being. These include appropriate saving as
well as spending. We can then enjoy life and focus on what
really matters.
We have respect for the wisdom captured over the ages as practical
guides. While not immutable truths, they point to simple guideposts
that have withstood the test of time.
"There are no free lunches."
"You get what you pay for."
"Live within your means."
"Save for a rainy day."
"Dont put all your eggs in one basket."
"If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't."
"The future will tell."
